International travels are connected with health hazard. Amount of travelers to the tropic regions of developing countries is still increasing. Traveling with
young children is becoming increasingly popular. Health risks of exotic travels are not commonly realized. Properly planned immunization can reduce the
risk of acquiring a dangerous disease. Planning vaccination before travel both epidemiological and personal risk factors should be considered. But even
the best prophylaxis does not protect in 100%. The article discusses vaccinations usually used in travel medicine and general rules useful in children and
teenagers travels.

HIV infection for 30 years raises a lot of extreme emotions. Since the discovery of the human immunodeficiency virus HIV in 1983, people working with HIVinfected
patients has consistently worried about infection in the performance of work duties. Basal way to prevent potential infection is the use of personal
protective equipment and required safety procedures such as used medical equipment storage and utilization. If, despite of the safety precautions taken,
there is the contact with infectious material, the use of the post-exposure prophylaxis – antiretroviral treatment is a necessity.

Introduction: Pregnancy is a special period in a woman’s life which needs the highest nutritional requirements. Increased demand for vitamins and
minerals with relatively little increased demand for energy is forcing to careful laying of diet and increasingly turning to the use of supplementation.
The pregnant woman needs to ensure optimal supply of all the necessary vitamins and minerals, because even the smallest of shortages may adversely
affect the child’s development.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to assess the knowledge of pregnant women about the need for supplementation in pregnancy, ascertain the
reasons for the use of supplements, and the frequency of their use.
Materials and methods: The study group consisted of 150 pregnant women aged between 18 and 45 years from the province of podkarpackie. The
research tool was the self-designed questionnaire survey, which included questions that concerned the use of dietary supplements by pregnant
women.
Results: It was found that 74% of women reaching for supplements during pregnancy and more than 75% from the beginning of its duration. Much
less, 40% apply supplements by becoming pregnant. The primary motive for the interest in them is pro-health value of supplements for the child
and the woman herself and the most common incentive for regular use are medical consultation. Predominatingly women reach for folic acid (83.3%), unfortunately only 28% of women apply it before becoming pregnant. In analysed group the usage of supplements containing vitamins and
minerals are frequent (60.4% of interviewees), the usage of remaining supplements are lesser: probiotic preparations (35.1%), products containing
DHA (25.2%), iron (19.8%), vitamin D3 (9.9% ), magnesium B6 (5.4%) and iodine (8.1%).
Conclusions: Awareness of pregnant women on the need for supplementation is common, but possessed the knowledge is not enough. There is
a need to raise awareness that some supplements, such as folic acid, or DHA, can be used routinely, and the decision taking other vitamins and
minerals should be consulted with a specialist, it may be very important for a healthy pregnancy.

Sleep disorders are common and affect a considerable portion of the adult population. Unrecognized and untreated sleep problems can significantly impair
quality of life, as well as they can lead to serious illnesses. In some cases, the good example are neurodegenerative disorders, sleep problems may proceed
for several years typical symptomatology. In this article we summarized the most common sleep disorders, such as primary and secondary insomnia,
delayed sleep phase syndrome, sleep apnea, restless legs syndrome, rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder and narcolepsy. The basic principles of
diagnosis and treatment have been discussed.

The authors present the summary of latest (February 2016) polish consensus guidelines on the use of acyclovir in the treatment and prevention
of VZV and HSV infections.

Background: Symptoms of Urogenital Syndrome of Menopause affect appr. 50% of women in pre- and perimenopause and result in severe deterioration
of the quality of life.
Aim of the study: To evaluate the effectiveness of Gynomed® HialuGel in women suffering from symptoms of Urogenital Syndrome of Menopause
Material and methods: This paper presents the results of observational open-study aimed to evaluate efficacy and tolerability of Gynomed® HialuGel applied
vaginally for 2 months by 40 women with symptoms of Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM). Data were collected by means of set of questionnaires
including Female Sexual Function Index. Patient’s opinions were collected before treatment and after 2 weeks and 2 months of treatment.
Results: A significant improvement in the GSM symptoms and the sexual life quality was observed after 2 weeks of treatment and potentiated through the
following weeks of therapy. 97,5% of patients were satisfied or very satisfied with this therapy.
Conclusions: Vaginal therapy with the product containing hyaluronic acid and phyto-isoflavonoids results in significant improvement of the quality of life in
women with symptoms of Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause.
